Inland Revenue (IR) plays an important role in the economic and social wellbeing of Aotearoa New Zealand. To support their operations, IR needed to fill over 90 Customer Compliance Specialist (CCS) roles nationwide—roles that require strong tax, compliance, and auditing expertise.

To help IR achieve this goal, we took a creative approach and set out to paint an authentic, enticing picture of all this role has to offer. Knowing that the communication needed to reach and resonate with people around the country, to fill the large number of roles, we needed to focus on a strategy that would largely reach a passive audience and be visually striking. We needed ads that would have the power to stop potential candidates in their scroll!

To do this, we developed a creative territory that was designed to appeal to the candidates' love of looking deeper, and of course their fascination with investigation. This spoke to the unique blend of skills IR was hoping to attract. This proposition was bought to life through a mix of photography and videography featuring their existing employees.

We then took a multi-channel, targeted digital strategy to reach both active and passive candidates. Our approach included:

  • META (Facebook and Instagram)
  • Google Ads
  • TikTok (to engage emerging talent)
  • LinkedIn
  • Display ads on Stuff.co.nz
  • Job boards: Seek and Indeed

This combination allowed us to cast a wide net while focusing on key candidate profiles. By using data-driven targeting, we reached candidates who fit the role requirements, even if they weren't actively job searching.

The campaign's performance exceeded expectations, successfully filling a large number of roles within a two week period - an impressive result considering the complexity of the positions and competition in the market.
